Wedmore 2nds (143 all out) V Peasedown St John's 1st Team (100 for 1)
June 30th 2012
Rain Affected Draw
With dark clouds circling Wedmore confidently chose to bat on a surprisingly dry wicket.
The decision seemed well founded as inform openers Marcus Lee (20) & Lloyd Patch (16) started confidently. When Lloyd departure Fraser Wall (16) maintained the momentum with some excellent driving. However Wedmore collapsed from 60 for 1 to 105 for 8 with only Pip Patch (18) briefly threatening.
Local entertainer Rob Banwell (28NO) rescued the innings with some lusty blows ably supported by Austin Charalambus (9) who managed to get Wedmore's total to a more respectable 143. George Tucker starred with the ball for Peasedown claiming 6 for 20 off his 12 over's.
Naked Chef star Dave Haning served an excellent tea to prepare Wedmore for some aggressive bowling.
However the bowling seemed weighed down with indigestion as the Peasedown batsmen feasted on Wedmore's bowlers struggling to hold onto a slippery ball in increasingly wet conditions.
Rob Banwell (1 for 18) made the long awaited breakthrough but seemed like too late to save Wedmore from defeat.
The weather finally took control of the match after play was interrupted for a fourth time the game was eventually abandoned with Peasedown not getting their deserved win.
Next week Wedmore entertain Evercreech.
